My memories of high school and college graduation ceremonies are vivid.  Feelings of pride and anticipation of the unknown future will stay with me forever.

Graduating seniors of 2020 will not have those same traditional memories.  Therefore, they won’t walk on a stage to receive their diplomas; they won’t select a tuxedo or dress for the prom; they won’t celebrate grad night.  How will they create new and alternative graduation memories?

Have you, as parents, thought about renting a Drive-In Movie Theater to use the screen to project pictures and names of the graduates?  Of course, families would stay in their cars.  You could support a local restaurant to cater the event.

I spoke with the CEO of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, Ca.  He’s open to discussing this idea of renting the facility for a drive-in graduation event. Parents of the graduates could split the expenses which might include food from a local catering company.  A once-in-a-lifetime celebration would honor this special moment in a child’s life.  If you’re interested, contact the CEO at info@TheMuck.org

A small town in Indiana honored their high school seniors with a memorable graduation! The graduates gathered their cars in the school parking lots while hundreds of friends, family and classmates lined up on the road in front.  Fire trucks from the community started the parade of vehicles with bright lights flashing and sirens wailing. Homemade signs congratulating the seniors added to the festivities!

Or, you could adopt a senior and perform little random acts of kindness for him/her, for instance.

Let’s remember that we’re all in this together. Supporting one another is what matters.  So, go out and make a difference!
