I treasure the childhood memories I have of visiting my great aunt’s farm in Illinois where family reunions took place. The heat and humidity of those Midwest Summers didn’t deter us from eating homemade food, bonding with cousins and experiencing real farm life complete with bee hives (my great uncle was Illinois State Beekeeper at one time), gazing at a herd of bison – all outside. Yes, we had to swipe away a few mosquitoes!
These memories came flooding back when I saw a picture of a cow creamer on P. Allen Smith’s Instagram account. P. Allen Smith is an award-winning TV host of P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home, P. Allen Smith’s Garden to Table and the syndicated 30-minute show P. Allen Smith Gardens. P. Allen Smith inspired me to find my cow creamer from my mother. Please find my cow creamer picture below; she even has her little bell on!
I was also enchanted with beautiful pictures of his Moss Mountain Farm, flowers, fruits, vegetables, goats, chickens. Graze here to visit his Moss Mountain Farm.

Lovely story, Jane. What great memories you have.
I’m pretty much a city girl…well, actually – a suburbs girl. LOL Have’t spent much time on the farm – except for a place called the Catskill Game Farm in upstate NY. Long gone, but it used to be a kind of zoo, with a huge petting area where sheep, goats and llamas roamed free. We purchased their favorite foods and feed them as they followed us around the compound. Other than that – no other “farm” experience.
Thanks, Eydie! Yes, they’re great memories. Thank you for sharing yours. Hope all is going well for you.
